Kimbolton Vineyards Pty Ltd

 Langhorne Creek Wine Region

Langhorne Creek is one of Australia’s oldest wine regions and is the traditional home of the Ngarrindjeri of the lower Murray River, western Fleurieu Peninsula, and the Coorong.

Frank Potts purchased the first 100 acres in the Langhorne Creek region in April 1850, planting grapevines a few years later and establishing the region's first winery, Bleasdale.

The Langhorne Creek wine region is located on an ancient natural floodplain between the Angas and Bremer Rivers on the shores of Lake Alexandrina.  It is this natural flood plain, and the fertile alluvial soiles that first attracted white settlers to the region in the 1800's.

There is no watercourse named Langhorne Creek.  Alfred Langhorne used to bring cattle overland to Langhorne Station during the 1840's and crossed the Bremer River at what became known as Langhorne's Crossing.  The name evolved and today we find ourselves located in Langhorne Creek.

The Case family are decendents of Frank Potts, the region's founder, and today 5th generation vigneron's Nicole and Brad run Kimbolton Vineyards.
